Jaarlijks kent de Universiteit Gent een − naar George Sarton (1884-1956) genoemde − leerstoel en enkele medailles toe aan wetenschappers die een belangrijke bijdrage hebben geleverd tot de geschiedschrijving van de wetenschappen. Het Instituut voor Rechtsgeschiedenis is vertegenwoordigd in het universitaire Sartoncomité . Geregeld wordt de leerstoel of een medaille toegekend aan een rechtshistorica/us. |

Each year the Ghent University Sarton committee, in which the Ghent Legal History Institute is represented, selects the Sarton chair holder and the Sarton medallists, as a recognition for their contribution to the history of science.
